A Photo Shoot I Couldn't Resist
Sister Hayes ("Grandma Lois") is an older woman in our church who has sort of adopted us. We went over on the 4th of July and picked out perennials from her garden to put in our balcony planters. A few weeks ago, she brought a jar of caterpillars to church and gave them to us. She thought it would be fun for the girls to watch them transform. It was really amazing! We had one black swallowtail and two monarchs. They ate tons of milkweed leaves until they had saved up enough energy to make their cocoons. When they emerged from their cocoons a few weeks later, their wings still weren't ready to fly for a couple of hours, so we held them and they stayed put. It was really sweet to watch my little girls admiring the butterflies. Even Sophia thought it was magical--although she couldn't be trusted to touch them with her hands. I'm sure they would have gone straight in her mouth like everything else she comes in contact with. Truly our God is a god of miracles, great and small.
